Hi, I’m Virginia Wygal, a mixed media collage artist, surface pattern designer, and an online educator. I’m so fortunate to have a creative business that I love and the ability to work on my creative projects from home!
My last position in the garment industry was wonderful. I was the Director of Product Development at a company the served large retailers. As a Director I led various creative teams through a process and toward a vision. With all the outsourcing, the industry began to shrink, and I was "downsized" out! I patched together other things I thought I'd enjoy, and for a short while I thought it was working. But eventually I felt something was missing!
So, I pulled out everything I knew from being a director of creative teams and used it on myself! I reclaimed a long-lost creative practice and used those skills to recast my love of fabric, color, and texture into a consistent practice.
You see that job was about keeping creative minds open, setting some boundaries but allowing to explore and blossom in-between the rails. It was about teaching them the underlying structure and the foundational processes that would keep them grounded. The structure gave them the security to know they could fly with their desires and still stay centered, motivated, fascinated, inspired, and especially…productive!
